After registering with the Maryland regulator back in the second half of December, I have been diligently setting up shop during the last few weeks and have been engaging with strategic partners such as our custodian, Interactive Brokers (IBKR). IBKR operates the largest electronic trading platform in the U.S. and currently has USD 354 billion under custody. Soon I'll be sharing more news regarding other strategic partners and their contribution to my value proposition.
My main goal is to provide institutional and retail clients with standout service while at the same time giving them access to model portfolios designed and managed by the world's top asset managers. The access to institutionally managed portfolios will allow me to provide superior service based on built-in oversight, risk management, and asset allocation expertise. Terrafort Capital will serve domestic and international clients, leveraging my 24-year trajectory in the global capital markets, including working for 14 years for the Treasury Departments of two multilateral development banks. Previous to my multilateral experience, I held offshore positions with Scotiabank wealth management, offshore broker-dealers, and Oppenheimer & Co.
As a result of my previous experience on the buy-side, I was fortunate to be serviced by the major banks and asset managers worldwide and continuously engaged with the largest institutional investors in the global capital markets. This firsthand experience has enabled me to determine the high level of service investors expect and should receive from their investment advisors. Additionally, I have developed a keen sense of the internal demands faced by institutional investors related to their responsibilities as fiduciaries and trustees, along with their multiple duties as prudent investors.
Institutional investors have additional demands regarding their liabilities, risk management, investment performance, and obligation to inform committees, boards of directors, and beneficiaries. On the other side of the investor spectrum, personal finance challenges can even be more overwhelming due to the concurrence of market cycles and personal life changes: from managing debt to saving for college to retirement.
